The role of regenerative medicine in hair regeneration

Dr. Gulhima Arora
Mehektagul Dermaclinic
New Delhi, India

Regenerative trichology entails restoring the structure and function of the hair follicle and its niche. To repair is to cure!
Regenerative trichology evolution has witnessed a logarithmic increase in its research resulting in numerous options available for treatment. In my talk I shall be presenting the verticals of regenerative trichology such as gene editing, devices, use of regenerative compounds to the cell based therapies and the most recent extracellular vesicles as well as their combinations from my experience in day-to-day practice.
CRISPR-Cas9 technology has allowed us to make precise changes in DNA, targeting specific genes to correct hair loss, prolong anaphase and reduce telogen. Combining this with stem cell treatment has added benefit. I shall cover harnessing adult multipotent stem cells utilising techniques in the absence of technically demanding laboratory procedures from skin and other tissues and combining them with various cell based therapies to provide the necessary scaffold as well as cellular ingredients for hair growth.
Benefit of devices such as micro needling, laser and light based devices amongst others also have their place in this field.
Extracellular vesicles have helped us “split the atom”, however their production source, indications, large scale production and applications needs further research and validation.
Combination of the above modalities gives us options to possibly treat or eliminate the cause of hair loss, provide a structural scaffold for regeneration to occur while adding the necessary ingredients in various forms to restore hair.
The limiting factors are transferring the complex laboratory techniques to a larger population scale while maintaining quality, with less expensive infrastructure, understanding inter individual responses to treatment and most importantly addressing the ethical conundrum of this exciting emerging field in regenerative medicine.

Optimizing outcomes with tailoring multi concentration CaHA biostimulators

Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHA) injectable filler has gained attention for its versatility in dermatology, particularly in skin biostimulation, lifting, and contouring. The rheological properties of CaHA, such as viscosity and elasticity, allow for varying application techniques across multiple concentrations to achieve targeted aesthetic outcomes. This presentation delves into the science behind CaHA’s rheology, showcasing its utility in skin rejuvenation, volumization, and lifting. Additionally, we explore the emerging trend of mixing CaHA with hyaluronic acid (HA), which enhances the filler’s hydrophilic properties, offering improved facial rejuvenation and smoother results. This combination leverages the benefits of both fillers, optimizing long-term collagen stimulation and immediate hydration for more effective, customized aesthetic treatments.
