THE Thermage®FLX

The Thermage® FLX

Banobagi Dermatologic Clinic Ban, Jae-yong

The Thermage® has been the most beloved treatment for more than 20 years since it first launched in 2002. Utilizing monopolar RF, Thermage® is well recognized for its anti-aging effects, targeting the entire dermis and part of the subcutaneous fat layer to stimulate the synthesis of new collagen and elastin. Many patients find it easy to remember to schedule their treatment once a year, especially if timed with their birthday as a birthday present procedure, as it helps to delay facial skin aging. Recently in Korea, the concept of "Slow aging" has gained popularity in Health & beauty shops like Olive Young, and The Thermage® has already been a leading dermatological option for slow aging.
This enduring popularity highlights Thermage®’s role as a foundational treatment in dermatology, serving both as a primary anti-aging solution and as a component of more advanced techniques that incorporate other treatments to amplify results.
In this lecture, I aim to share over 20 years of expertise in therapeutic approaches, including combination therapies that extend beyond the standard use of Thermage® and explain why it has become a cornerstone in dermatological treatments.

References)

1. Optimizing outcomes with non-ablative monopolar RF: Advanced techniques and applications

This presentation explores advanced techniques and applications of non-ablative monopolar radiofrequency (NMRF) for optimizing clinical outcomes in aesthetic dermatology. NMRF is a versatile treatment modality widely used for facial rejuvenation, acne vulgaris, and pore size reduction. By delivering controlled volumetric heating to the dermis, NMRF stimulates collagen remodeling and sebaceous gland suppression, offering long-term therapeutic benefits.

Clinical studies demonstrate the efficacy of NMRF in reducing facial pores, sebum excretion, and improving skin texture and elasticity. One study involving Thai patients with enlarged pores showed significant reductions in pore volume (24% to 38%) and sebum production (up to 39%) within six months after two treatment sessions. These results were accompanied by improvements in skin smoothness and elasticity, with minimal side effects such as transient erythema and edema. The enhanced skin quality and reduced pore size were attributed to the dual effects of dermal remodeling and sebaceous gland suppression.

NMRF has also been employed successfully for acne vulgaris management, reducing inflammatory lesions and improving patients' quality of life through decreased oiliness and lesion count. Its non-invasive nature, combined with sustained clinical improvements, makes it an appealing option for patients seeking alternatives to more aggressive treatments.

This presentation will cover advanced protocols, treatment parameters, and practical considerations for optimizing NMRF outcomes across diverse skin types and indications, offering a comprehensive guide for clinicians to maximize efficacy and safety in their practices.

Benefits of 900REP over 600REP in full face treatment

Background: Thermage, a non-invasive radiofrequency treatment for skin tightening and contouring, has seen advancements aimed at enhancing efficacy, safety, and patient satisfaction. While many physicians still utilize 600REP tips at higher energy levels to achieve satisfactory outcomes, the 900REP tips offer distinct advantages that extend beyond cost differences, enhancing comfort, treatment results, and overall patient experience.

Reduced Pain and Increased Comfort:
The 900REP system features a slower, more controlled temperature rise, significantly reducing pain compared to the 600REP. This gradual heating improves patient comfort, particularly for those with lower pain tolerance, making the procedure more appealing.

Enhanced Energy Delivery:
With the 900REP, a greater total energy is delivered to target tissues, resulting in better collagen remodeling and more effective skin tightening. This leads to superior long-term benefits for patients seeking improved contouring and rejuvenation.

Improved Vectoring:
Vectoring, a key protocol in Thermage treatments, is enhanced with the 900REP due to the increased number of shots available. This allows for more precise, targeted treatment, leading to superior clinical outcomes in areas that require special attention.

Fewer Complications:
The gradual energy delivery at lower treatment levels not only minimizes discomfort but also reduces the risk of complications such as burns, blisters, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. This makes the 900REP safer, allowing patients to undergo treatment with greater confidence and fewer side effects.

Increased Patient Satisfaction:
The combination of reduced pain, improved results, and fewer complications leads to significantly higher patient satisfaction with the 900REP. Patients report better overall experiences, faster recovery, and enhanced aesthetic outcomes, making the 900REP a preferred choice over the 600REP, improving patient retention.

Conclusion:
Thermage 900REP tips provide a superior balance of comfort, safety, and efficacy compared to 600REP tips, leading to improved patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.
This abstract emphasizes the key benefits of Thermage 900REP over 600REP, tailored for an audience interested in medical and aesthetic advancements.

Monopolar radiofrequency for skin rejuvenation that has stood the test of time

Skin Rejuvenation is one of the most popular rejuvenation treatments being offered by clinicians in 2024. Radiofrequency treatments have been one of the forefronts of rejuvenation therapies for many years and monopolar radiofrequency treatments remain some of the most true and tried rejuvenation therapies available. This presentation will review monopolar radiofrequency science and clinical results which show how useful this therapy is and will be for clinicians utilizing this therapy.
